Under the Nagrik Adhikar Manch and Samvidhan Jagrukata Forum, the girls met Municipal Corporation Commissioner Smt. Preeti Yadav (IAS) today and gave a memorandum of their demands.
Through the memorandum, the girls informed that Dr. Rajendra Prasad Higher Secondary School located at Gwarighat is a school under Municipal Corporation Jabalpur and is run by the corporation, whose entire expenditure is borne from the funds of the Municipal Corporation. Sir, a large number of children study in the school, in which a large number of teenage girls are also studying. The problem is that the teenage girls have to face a lot of embarrassment at the time of sudden menstruation in the school, when there is no arrangement of sanitary pads in the school for its treatment. When the management demands sanitary pads from the girls, they are asked to make their own arrangements, whereas the government has made many schemes for the availability of sanitary pads in schools and colleges, for which the girl students were also promised to be given Rs. 300 each.
The girls told the commissioner that our constitution protects the dignity of every citizen and if basic essential items like sanitary pads are not available for girls in school, it is a violation of the dignity of all the girls in the school. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Higher Secondary School Management and other schools should also be instructed to make arrangements for sanitary pads for girls in school and the dignity of girls should be protected.
